Walmart.com announced a "Rollback" sale to rival Amazon.com's "Prime Day" on July 15, signaling that the retail titans will go head-to-head in a blowout day of sales reminiscent of Black Friday.
Walmart wrote in a Monday blog post that in addition to a bevy of new "rollback" deals offered up all week long, it will also offer "special atomic deals." Additionally, it has lowered the free shipping threshold from $50 to $35 per order — matching Amazon's shipping offer.
While Amazon's event will focus on deals for its Prime Members, Walmart emphasized on Twitter that its sale is open to everyone.
"We’ve heard some retailers are charging $100 to get access to a sale," Walmart wrote on its blog. "But the idea of asking customers to pay extra in order to save money just doesn’t add up for us."
Amazon also took to Twitter to show off some of the sales its Prime Members — who pay a $100 annual membership fee — will have access to.
