Warwick Davis will join the Han Solo film, which is back on track after encountering a few obstacles recently.
Director Ron Howard is filming the Han Solo project at Pinewood Studios, USA Today noted. Fans welcomed the announcement of Davis joining the team, which was revealed by Howard on social media on Wednesday.
Responding to a question put forth by a fan on Twitter, querying when there would be a sequel to the 80s fantasy film, "Willow," Howard replied, "Glad you are asking for one! I directed @WarwickADavis for the 1st time in 30 years today. It made me happy."
Davis joined in the conversation, reminiscing about appearing in "Willow," stating what wonderful experience it was.
The project was temporarily halted after previous directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired, according to NME, which noted the pair "reportedly had trouble with creative differences with producer Kathleen Kennedy."
Davis is no stranger to the "Star Wars" saga.
Deadline reported that the actor "first entered the franchise in 1983 when he played the memorable Ewok Wicket in "Return of the Jedi". He went on to appear as various characters in "The Phantom Menace", "The Force Awakens" and "Rogue One", and will appear in the forthcoming "The Last Jedi."
The standalone Han Solo film is yet to be named however, presenters on "The Star Wars Show," have revealed additional information about the forthcoming project.
Academy award nominated composer, John Powell, has been named as the film’s official composer.
Known best for his work on "Shrek," "Kung Fu Panda" and "How to Train Your Dragon," Powell will now take over scoring the Hans Solo movie, making him the third person in the history of the franchise to score a live action "Star Wars" film, next to the likes of Michael Giacchino and John Williams.
