Harvey Weinstein family driver Cristavo Proenca was arrested on Thursday in New York City the day before Weinstein surrendered to authorities there in connection with the investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.

Proenca, 44, was charged with damaging the camera of a photographer during an incident near Greenwich Avenue, a New York Police representative told The Hollywood Reporter.

The driver reportedly was picking up Weinstein's estranged wife Georgina Chapman and the couple's daughter just after 11:30 a.m. when staked-out paparazzi started following the vehicle.

Proenca is accused of stopping the vehicle on West 11th Street, getting out, grabbing Jason Winslow’s camera and then damaging it, authorities told THR, after which police charged him with criminal mischief and harassment.

The Daily Mail reported that Winslow is a freelance entertainment photographer based in the greater New York area.

Three years ago, a security guard for Justin Bieber was ordered to serve 45 days in jail after admitting to taking Winslow's camera while he was trying to take pictures of the singer, the Daily Mail said.

Weinstein surrendered Friday morning at a police precinct for fingerprinting before his expected arraignment in Manhattan criminal court, USA Today reported.

Weinstein's surrender was for charges related to an alleged attack on former actress Lucia Evans in 2004, the New York Daily News reported, in which the actress claimed Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex.

The newspaper cited sources saying prosecutors will ask for $1 million bail and an electronic ankle monitor.

In a New Yorker article that helped signal Weinstein's downfall and sparked the #MeToo movement, Evans charged that the producer forced her into oral sex in his New York office during a private meeting while she was a college senior trying to break into the industry.

More than two dozen women have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct, ranging from harassment to rape, since initial charges appeared in the New Yorker and New York Times last fall.
