Whoopi Goldberg called Donald Trump's recent tweets about two Americans who contracted Ebola while fighting the outbreak "dopey," "stupid," and "idiotic" on Monday's episode of "The View."
"I'm not defending him, but he is also a friend of mine, so I don't want to be disrespectful to him, but that was a stupid comment," Goldberg told her co-hosts, referring to a comment Trump made Friday on Twitter. "Do your homework, Donald. Just do your homework."

According to The Wrap, Trump took to the social network to protest the return of Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol, who contracted the disease in Liberia. Met with almost immediate opposition by some, he stuck to his position, retweeting supporters and issuing new tweets on the subject throughout the weekend.
Goldberg took issue with his sentiment, as well as his alarmist tone. She and her co-hosts likened the medics' service to that of those in the military, and said the U.S. had a responsibility to bring them home. They also discussed the caution with which they were being transported and handled.
"Donald, I understand what I think you're trying to say, because a lot of people were very worried about this idea — that somebody with Ebola was going to come back to the United States," Goldberg began. "But, I figured, the CDC, and all of these doctors, and this airplane — which is pretty much a vacuum — has done everything they can do to make sure he and she are going to be protected."
Goldberg was referring to the special transport plane the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) uses to retrieve potentially infectious patients. In the case of Brantly, who was transported first, he was transported by plane, and taken to an isolated treatment center at Emory University in Atlanta, which is co-run by the CDC.
The ladies of "The View" also discussed the relatively low risk of Ebola's transmission, since it is not airborne like the flu.
"I like Donald, I try to be respectful, but this was an idiotic comment," said Goldberg.
