Will Smith has strongly denied rumors that he and wife Jada Pinkett Smith are getting a divorce.

Calling the rumors "foolishness," Smith issued a statement on Facebook on Monday saying that he had grown tired of the ferocity of the whispers and media reports this week.

The celebrity gossip website Radar Online kicked the rumor mill into high gear Monday with a story claiming that the couple had struck a secret divorce deal worth $240 million.

"For Will and Jada, holding it together these past few years has been tough because their marriage has been on life support for a long time," a source reportedly told Radar Online. "They're exhausted from trying to maintain the façade of a happy union. They've decided to pull the plug in a carefully choreographed manner, [and] agree announcing their split at the end of the summer is the right move."

In 2011, Pinkett Smith fended off rumors that she had an affair with Marc Anthony, who was a costar on her television series "HawthoRNe," according to People magazine. The cheating rumor seemed somewhat credible at the time, as it broke just as Anthony broke up with Jennifer Lopez, noted the magazine.

Will Smith was dogged this year by rumors that he cheated with his "Focus" costar Margot Robbie, according to the Franchise Herald.

Pinkett Smith recently told American Airlines' inflight magazine that the couple had grown used to the whispers about their marriage, Us Weekly noted.

"Every year there's a new one," Pinkett Smith said. "And I'm like, 'Here we go. Get ready. Are ya holdin' on tight?' Marriages go through shifts and relationships go through shifts because in life, things shift. So people are automatically like, 'What’s going on? They must be getting a divorce.' Well, no. But when people feel those shifts and there's a mystery, they have to fill it with something."
