He's recovering from a shoulder injury, but Willie Nelson fans attending the Southern Grounds Music and Food Festival in Nashville will get to hear the legendary country music artist this weekend as the festival confirmed his appearance. "Willie Nelson & Family have confirmed that they WILL PERFORM on Saturday, Sept. 28th and have invited their friend Warren Haynes to sit-in on a couple songs," said the festival's post. "We are also excited to announce Kenny Rogers will make a special appearance during Zac Brown Band's 'Super Set' on Friday night. See you all this weekend."
The festival, hosted by the Zac Brown Band, also includes such musical heavyweights as Kenny Chesney, Jason Mraz, Rogers, and John Fogerty.
While Nelson's arrival is secure, many of his fans are still hoping for the return of Ol' Dillo, a mounted armadillo belonging to a member of Willie Nelson's stage crew that is Nelson's band's unofficial mascot.
The Westchester Journal News reported the mascot was stolen after Nelson's Sept. 19 concert in Port Chester, N.Y.
Tom Bailey, manager of the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, told the Journal News he and his staff have several clear images of a woman they suspect of ripping off the mascot and an award has been offered.
"We now are quite clear as to what the perpetrator looks like," Bailey told the newspaper. "We're going to close this thing up right and get that armadillo back to Mr. Nelson."
The iconic country singer and songwriter from Texas has been part of the Nashville scene since the 1960s. With signature songs like "On the Road Again" and "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys," Nelson created a loyal following along with his distinct sound.
A seven-time Grammy Awards winner, Nelson was also the co-founder of FarmAid, an All-Star event and raises money for American farmers.
