Willow Smith Video for 'Summer Fling' Knocked for Adult Theme (Video)

Willow Smith, the daughter of Hollywood power couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, is creating a stir with her new video for her song "Summer Fling."

Critics say the 12-year-old's song has an overtly adult theme and could leave the wrong impressive to her younger fans, psychiatrist Carole Lieberman told NBC News, who called the video "outrageous."

Hollie McKay described Smith's British accent in the song "weird," saying while the video contains nothing overt, the overall concept raises eyebrows.

"The preteen also appears in the song’s music video (of course) with a seemingly much older male love interest," McKay said on FoxNews.com. "They romp around and stare at one another lovingly. Nothing explicit beyond hugs and hand holding takes place, but many are alarmed by the 'fling' concept and have interpreted it as something sexual and highly ill-suited."

McKay quotes celebrity life coach Patrick Wanis on her "Pop Tarts" column saying he believes the preteen sends the wrong message to girls her age, who are not mature enough to absorb the themes of the song and video.

"Willow is singing about having sex and this is totally inappropriate and not in line with the developmental physical, mental or emotional stages of a 12-year-old girl who is barely an adolescent; the video reveals that she is still a little girl – not a teenager,” Wanis says in McKay's column. "She is not mature enough mentally or emotionally to be boasting that she and her 'fling' are walking 'the beach at midnight.'"

Clarke Gail Baines, of MadameNoire, said the video, on a second look, seemed to be more about adolescent fun than anything intentionally sexual.

"I personally didn’t really get that inappropriate of a vibe from it all," Baines said on MadameNoire.com "Maybe it’s because she just doesn’t seem 12 to me (don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing). I think my biggest issue was with her jumping on the trampoline in a swimsuit bottoms. But honestly, Willow, along with her brother and friends, just look like they’re trying to have innocent fun."
