A woman who was kept in a box for four months in Missouri earlier this year was found murdered this week, presumably by the same man who kept her captive.
Police are on the hunt for suspect James Horn, a 47-year-old from Sedalia, Missouri, after family members discovered the bodies of 46-year-old Sandra Sutton and her 17-year-old son Zachary Sutton early
Thursday in Clinton, Fox4KC.com reported.
Horn has been on the run since April, when Sandra Sutton escaped from his residence and told police he had kept her in a wooden box with only a small hole for air since January. The two reportedly dated at one time.
Officials believe Horn traveled to Clinton this week to shoot Sutton and her son, possibly leaving with
Sutton's car after, according to KMBC-TV. Surveillance cameras reportedly showed someone getting out of Sutton's vehicle at a Sedalia hospital and leaving it abandoned.
Sedalia schools were placed on lockdown Thursday while law enforcement officers searched for Horn. Jeff Waters told the television station that he used to work with Horn and believes that the suspect would be desperate to avoid prison.
Zach Sutton was a student at Clinton High School and was remembered positively there, the principal told KMBC-TV. The high school expressed condolences in a Twitter message Thursday.
"Zach was a current student at CHS," Clinton superintendent Craig Easton said in a statement.
"We are saddened by his loss and offer condolences to the family."
