America's Most Conservative and Liberal Companies Based on Donations

A career website has posted a list of America’s most conservative and most liberal companies — and some of the findings may surprise you.

Zippia.com, a San Francisco-based company that provides career information and tools for professionals across various industries, drew up the list by studying donations to political parties and PACs by employees of the 250,000 biggest public and private companies in the nation.

The country’s most conservative companies include:

1. Murray Energy, Saint Clairsville, Ohio – 99 percent Republican
2. South State Bank, Columbia, S.C. – 98 percent Republican
3. J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc., Hackensack, N.J. – 97 percent Republican
4. Service Corporation International, Houston, Texas – 97 percent Republican
5. Plumbers & Pipefitters Local, Du Bois, Pa. – 97 percent Republican

The country’s most liberal companies include:

1. Tishman Realty & Construction Co. Inc., New York, N.Y. – 99 percent Democratic
2. Hillary’s, Armstrong, Iowa – 98 percent Democratic
3. Pal Environmental Safety Corp., Long Island City, N.Y. – 98 percent Democratic
4. UAW International Union, Detroit, Mich. – 98 percent Democratic
5. American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio, Cleveland, Ohio – 98 percent Democratic

Zippia says of the 250,000 companies it looked at, its numbers-crunching analysis was limited to those with at least 150 donors to stop small, politically-active firms from overwhelming the results.

To identify how liberal or conservative a company was, Zippia obtained data from the Federal Election Committee. It then matched donors to the companies.
