Zoo Atlanta "honored" Tom Brady by naming a baby cockroach after him in recognition of a Super Bowl bet it lost to another zoo in Rhode Island.

The bet between Zoo Atlanta and the Rhode Island's Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village was that the zoo supporting the losing team would have to name a baby animal after the other squad, Fox Sports reported.

Zoo Atlanta decided to keep its end of the bet by naming a newly born Madagascar hissing cockroach after New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Brady earned the ire of many Atlanta Falcons fans by leading the Patriots to a historic comeback victory in overtime in Super Bowl LI.

Zoo Atlanta showed off the Tom Brady cockroach on Instagram.

"Before the game, our two zoos decided the losing side would name one of their baby animals after the winning team's star quarterback, and figuring the losing side would be pretty bitter about it, we came to the agreement that baby animal … would be a Madagascar hissing cockroach," Zoo Atlanta said on its Facebook page.

The shiny brown, oval-shaped cockroach has a single pair of antennae, with the male sporting large horns, which give them an unusual and impressive appearance, according to National Geographic. It hisses during fights with rival males and mating. The sound could also be used as an alarm cry.

Tom Brady, the cockroach, has been getting a wide range of responses on social media.
