Judge Amy Coney Barrett is getting ready for her grilling, but it’s the grillers who deserve to be grilled.
U.S. Supreme Court confirmation hearings have devolved to a made for Left-wing media spectacle where every Republican nominee is served up for character assassination. Since the Bork hearings — presided over by then-Sen. Joe Biden — Democrats have shown they don’t care about the integrity of the process.
They care about power.
They’ll try to throw enough mud on Barrett that her selection becomes unpalatable to suburban swing voters and throw the Senate to Democrats in November.
Judge Barrett is regarded as one of the most brilliant legal minds in the nation.
But, she's already been called a "white colonizer" for adopting two children from Haiti, a religious zealot for her devout Catholicism, and a woman who will set back women’s rights to the Stone Age. According to Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer, she will also play Grim Reaper to Obamacare single-handedly leaving 100 million people to die without health insurance.
None of these are serious charges.
None of the Democrats grilling Barrett should be taken seriously either.
They throw stones from glass houses big enough to enclose Mount Rushmore.
Their righteous indignation is a farce eclipsed only by their own scandals, corruption and hypocrisy.
Here’s just a taste:
Senator Diane Feinstein, D-Calif.
Sen. Feinstein has maintained a long and cozy relationship with interests in China during her career in the Senate. Her pro-China positions on trade have apparently paid off. Feinstein and her investor husband Richard Blum are together now worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Blum was also named a co-conspirator in the largest college-admissions scandal in U.S. history. Feinstein also employed a Chinese spy in her Bay Area district office while she served as chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.
The senator is a serial phony who repeatedly lied about his military service when he was running for office. Blumenthal received at least five deferments from the Vietnam-era draft and took repeated steps to avoid going to war. In 2007 the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) rated Blumenthal, Connecticut’s attorney general at the time, the worst in the nation, earning failing grades in four categories: using his office to "promote personal gain or enrich cronies or relatives"; "fabricating the law"; bringing lawsuits "that usurp regulatory powers…" and "seeking to regulate conduct occurring wholly in other states."] Blumenthal also refused to investigate Senator Chris Dodd’s sweetheart loans connected to Countrywide Financial. He then replaced Dodd in the Senate.
Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.
Though Democrats don’t like discussing it, Harris was the protégé and mistress of longtime San Francisco politician Willie Brown and was handed her appointments in Bay Area politics as a result. She’s proven to be the consummate political opportunist. In 2010 a California Superior Court judge found her San Francisco District Attorney's Office covered up inconvenient evidence. That led to the dismissal of more than 600 cases. Later, as California’s attorney general, she lied to state legislators who demanded that she investigate millions in public corruption.
During the Senate confirmation of Justice Kavanaugh, her office sent an anonymous, unsupported undated letter to the Judiciary Committee alleging Kavanaugh had raped a woman in a car. Her line of gotcha questions to Judge Kavanaugh included the fictitious claim that he had discussions about the Mueller investigation with a member of a law firm with ties to President Trump.
Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.
Leahy once lost his perch on the Intelligence Committee for illegally leaking classified information to NBC News. He’s also a big fan of the Grateful Dead. Draw your own conclusions there.
Senator Dick Durbin, D-Ill.
Durban, Senate Democrats’ second in command, led the 2003 effort to filibuster U.S. Court of Appeals nominee Miguel Estrada because he was Latino. Estrada was considered a top prospect to one day to be elevated to the Supreme Court. Durban and other liberals feared that if Estrada were confirmed, George W. Bush could get the credit for putting the first Latino on the high court. This year, he described Sen. Tim Scott’s police reform bill as a "token" effort and was forced to apologize for being racially insensitive.
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I.
Whitehouse has come under fire for his staggering hypocrisy when it comes to "dark money." Long fashioning himself as a crusader against the activist groups, he’s refused to answer questions in a congressional hearing about his own ties to Arabella Advisors, Demand Justice, the Sixteen Thirty Fund, and others. These groups keep their donor lists secret and have invested tens of millions of dollars to push the makeup of America’s courts in an activist liberal direction.
Senator Cory Booker, D-N.J.
The headline-chasing New Jersey Senator, attested to a friendship with a Newark drug dealer named "T-Bone," for political purposes, of course. The only problem is, he made it all up. He’d been fabricating their adventures together since at least 2000. The former Newark mayor was also never seen by his Brick City neighbors and claimed to live in a house that wasn’t listed on his Senate financial disclosure.
So have at it Judge Amy Coney Barrett. Remember, they may be tough but they’re phonies and charlatans. You have God-given intellect, decency, and truth on your side. Go make history.
