Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday praised a jury's conviction of the man accused of killing Chris Kyle, the subject of the blockbuster film American Sniper.
“Justice!” tweeted Abbott, a former state attorney general who was elected in November to succeed Governor Rick Perry. “Chris Kyle's killer convicted of capital murder. Jury didn't buy insanity defense.”
Abbott has been an outspoken fan of the slain sniper, earlier proclaiming Feb. 2 as “Chris Kyle Day” in the Lone Star State.
The convicted killer, former Marine Eddie Ray Routh, will be sentenced to life without parole for the death of Kyle and another man at a shooting range in 2013, according to the Associated Press.
