An F-22 Raptor fighter jet assigned to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida crashed Friday morning after performing a training exercise, the Air Force said in a statement.

The crash occurred at about 9:15 a.m. about 12 miles away from the main base on the test and training range. The pilot was ejected safely from the jet and sent to a hospital for evaluation and observation, the Air Force statement said.

The Air Force did not release the pilot’s name, but said he is in stable condition. There were no other passengers onboard and there was no damage to pedestrians or property, according to the news release.

The mission was a routine training flight with the 33rd Fighter Wing. A board of officers will investigate the incident.
