President Donald Trump has named Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., onto the Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Commission.
The news came Thursday night from the White House, The Hill reported.
Along with King, the White House announced Eric Lowery and Naomi Earp, both of Maryland, will also be on the commission that is planning events honoring the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Maryland orator and abolitionist.
The commission was established by bipartisan legislation sponsored by several Maryland and D.C. lawmakers and signed into law by Trump last November.
