President Joe Biden has replaced a portrait of Andrew Jackson in the Oval Office with one of Benjamin Franklin and has also added busts of labor icon Cesar Chavez, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Eleanor Roosevelt, reports The Washington Post.
Trump's choice of Jackson was controversial. The seventh president was a slaveholder and his implementation, as president, of a policy of "Indian removal," from eastern lands that culminated in the "Trail of Tears," led to the deaths of an estimated 5,000 Cherokees.
Biden's portrait of Franklin is intended to celebrate science, according to the Post.
Other additions include a duo of paired paintings of President Thomas Jefferson and former Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton, two men known for their rivalry.
The paintings were paired "as hallmarks of how differences of opinion, expressed within the guardrails of the Republic, are essential to democracy," Biden's office told the Post.
Biden also has multiple family photos behind his desk.
