The average of Apple reviews for the CNN app has disappeared after it plummeted to a one-star rating, raising speculation the network was trying to save itself from embarrassingly bad reviews, NewsBusters has reported.

Instead of the ratings, a note appears stating "We have not received enough ratings to display an average for the current version of this application."

The Daily Caller reported CNN fell to a one-star rating after the network published an article that appeared to threaten to publicly identify an anonymous Reddit user who made a video depicting President Donald Trump body-slamming the CNN logo.

Angry users then flooded the app, and out of 3,215 total ratings awarded to the CNN on the app store, 3,063 of them were one-star ratings.

However, some writing in to NewsBusters pointed out that since CNN released a new version of their app, the message which appeared is standard for any app being altered.

Other speculated CNN intentionally tweaked its version for the sole purpose of trying to make the negative reviews more difficult to find.

Red State reported whatever the reason for updating their app, within hours of doing it was right back at one star again after enough new reviews came in.
