Apple has eyes on people who stole iPhones during the ongoing riots, local New York Fox News Channel 5 reports.

Some people protesting the death of George Floyd, a black man killed by a white police officer in Minneapolis, have been looting stores and stealing merchandise.

Apple stores across the country have been ransacked. And the tech company has a message for people who stole cell phones.

Thieves will see a message on the stolen device stating, “This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted."

The message also requests the device be returned to the store it was taken from.

Apple used special security software to display the warning message to the thieves.

People who stole phones have posted photos of the warning message on social media.
