"A.D. The Bible Continues," the latest Biblical epic by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, is already generating buzz, and now Newsmax has obtained a sneak peek at the eagerly-awaited TV miniseries.

The latest installment of the Biblical series is based on the life and times of Jesus, his apostles, and the rise of the church. It will debut on NBC on Easter Sunday — April 5 — and air on the following 11 Sundays in prime time.

Watch the exclusive video preview here.

"A.D. The Bible Continues" is the follow-up to "The Bible," the 2013 hit mini-series that focused on stories from the Old and New Testaments, leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Some of the series was compiled along with new footage into the movie "Son of God," released in February 2014.

Burnett was executive producer for several successful reality TV shows such as "Survivor," "Shark Tank," "The Apprentice," and "The Voice." Downey, his wife, was the star of the hit television series "Touched by an Angel."

"A.D. The Bible Continues" will feature Argentinian actor Juan Pablo di Pace playing Jesus. The other major Biblical characters are played by actors drawn from around the world.
