Former Trump National Security Adviser John Bolton accused President Donald Trump of lying multiple times while in office, according to a clip from an ABC News interview scheduled to air on Sunday.
Bolton sat down with ABC's Martha Raddatz to discuss his upcoming tell-all book and his time in the Trump administration.,
"Is the president lying?" Raddatz asked Bolton.
“Yes he is, and it’s not the first time either,” Bolton responded in a promotional clip released by ABC.
Bolton also said he hasn't talked to the president since he resigned in September and that he won't likely speak to him moving forward.
In the clip, teased with the phrase "the person the president doesn't want you to hear from,” it's not evident what Bolton is accusing Trump of lying about.
On Tuesday, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit to block the release of Bolton's book, "The Room Where it Happened: A White House Memoir," which is scheduled to be released next week. The administration said its publication violates Bolton's non-disclosure agreement.
DOJ prosecutors claim the book is “rife with classified information” and that Bolton changed his mind about being vetted by the White House. Bolton denies both claims.
“[Bolton] struck a bargain with the United States as a condition of his employment in one of the most sensitive and important national security positions in the United States Government and now wants to renege on that bargain by unilaterally deciding that the prepublication review process is complete and deciding for himself whether classified information should be made public,” the DOJ prosecutors wrote in the lawsuit.
The book's publisher, Simon & Schuster responded to the lawsuit with a statement backing the veracity of Bolton's claims.
“The lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice to block John Bolton from publishing his book, THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENED, is nothing more than the latest in a long running series of efforts by the Administration to quash publication of a book it deems unflattering to the President,” Simon & Schuster said in a statement.
