President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence have begun receiving the same presidential daily briefings as President Barack Obama, The Hill reported.
Trump has gotten limited briefings since receiving the Republican nomination this past summer, but now is getting the same information as the current president.
It is up to Obama to decide how much of the briefing the incoming president would be given, and he decided to give Trump the same information as he is getting himself, according to The Hill.
"This is an important part of ensuring the kind of smooth transition that President Obama has prioritized," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said last week of sharing the daily briefing.
The first daily briefing was delivered to Trump Tower in New York on Tuesday, ABC News reported.
Trump and Obama met in the Oval Office last week to discuss the transition, and what had been intended for a 15-minute meeting lasted an hour and a half. Obama said although he fought hard against Trump's election, he is committed to a smooth transition of power.
