Anti-Police Protesters' New Target: Sunday Brunch Spots

By    |   Monday, 05 January 2015 07:17 AM EST

Patrons found their meals interrupted as protesters walked into several midtown Manhattan restaurants serving Sunday brunch and read the names of black people who have been killed by police.

Yahoo News reported that about three dozen people participated in the New York "Black Brunch" event. There was a similar event in Oakland, California.

The New York group went from one midtown restaurant to the next, including Lallisse, Maialino and Pershing Square, to places they called predominantly "white spaces."

Many tweeted photos of the reactions of annoyed diners, "reading the annoyed reactions of those patrons as complacency in the face of the killing of Eric Garner and others," Mediate said.

Conservatives took to Twitter to mock the protest against white liberals who likely sympathized with the protester's complaints.
