Trump Says He's Planning Crackdown on Seattle Protesters

President Donald Trump threatened to crack down on Seattle anti-police brutality protesters who’ve taken over several blocks of the city unless municipal and state leaders move to reclaim control of the streets.

“If they don’t do the job, I’ll do the job,” Trump told reporters on Monday at the White House, adding that he had discussed the situation with Attorney General William Barr and that there are “about 10 different things” he can do.

He wouldn’t say how much longer he would allow what protesters call the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) to continue.

“We have a governor who is a stiff,” he said of Washington Governor Jay Inslee, a Democrat, “and a mayor who said this is a ‘love fest,’” referring to Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, also a Democrat.

The president has been assailing Seattle and Washington state leadership, and urging action against the autonomous zone, for days. 

On Sunday he was especially vocal, calling the leadership there weak and saying the "Fake News Media" purposely ignores the "radical Left takeover" in the city for political gain.

"Does anyone notice how little the Radical Left takeover of Seattle is being discussed in the Fake News Media. That is very much on purpose because they know how badly this weakness & ineptitude play politically," Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon.

"The Mayor & Governor should be ashamed of themselves. Easily fixed!"

Later Sunday, the president tweeted: "Interesting how ANTIFA and other Far Left militant groups can take over a city without barely a wimpier from soft Do Nothing Democrat leadership, yet these same weak leaders become RADICAL when it comes to shutting down a state or city and its hard working, tax paying citizens!"
