Chris Christie Sheds 100 pounds — Now Weighs 320

You can call Chris Christie the incredible shrinking governor.

The Garden State's top executive has dropped close to 100 pounds over the past year since undergoing lap band surgery, according to reports.

''It’s very gratifying to see that he lost so much weight [. . .] given all the priorities he’s gone through recently and emotionally,'' Dr. Charles Simone, one of President Ronald Reagan's physicians, told New Jersey's WWOR-TV.

Christie, who is also chairman of the Republican Governors Association, has been shedding weight in order to be more physically fit for a presidential run, political observers say.

New Jersey residents who've seen him at public appearances told the Newark Star-Ledger that Christie is definitely looking better.

"He looks amazing! He looks very healthy and happy and vibrant. I’m expecting he’ll continue to look better," Shannon Ruvelas told the newspaper after a recent town hall meeting in Berkeley Township.

Last October, Christie, 51, released a letter from his cardiologist showing he was in good health. Christie does have high blood pressure and asthma, both controlled with the use of prescription medications.

While Christie has never publicly revealed his actual weight, nutrition experts believe he tipped the scales at about 420 pounds before taking action a year ago.
