GOP Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said on Sunday it was “alarming” that 60% of workers at nursing homes in the state of Ohio have refused to get a COVID-19 vaccination.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” DeWine said it’s not a matter of mandating the shot, but of education.

“First round only 40% of the employees were taking a shot,” he said of Ohio nursing homes. “They will get another chance.”

“What we have seen is that the nursing homes that come up with a good education plan before the person had to make the decision to get a shot or not, they are seeing their compliance rate go up significantly from that 40%,” he said.

“This is a work in progress. I just wanted to put that 40% number out there because it's what we are seeing and it is alarming… and we have got to improve.”

DeWine also said he trusts the 2020 election results, but believes there ought to be bipartisan scrutiny of the election process.

“The judicial system works and our mechanism for electing a president of the United States works,” he declared.

“What we need to do …get some very well-respected people from both parties take a look,” DeWine added. “I'm not saying they take a year to do it but take a look at this and see how are elections being run?
