Fox News' Gutfeld: Sterling's Age No Excuse for Comments

By    |   Monday, 28 April 2014 06:21 PM EDT

Greg Gutfeld of Fox News Channel's discussion show "The Five" doesn't think Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling should get a pass for his alleged racist comments just because of his age.

Sterling, who just turned 80, is under fire for audio recordings purporting to be of him and his 31-year-old, mixed-race girlfriend. On the recordings, the voice said to be Sterling's tells the woman not to post photos of herself online with black people or bring blacks to Clippers games.

Gutfeld said that older people often are excused because they come from a different era. But he called that "BS."

"If you are 81, you were in your 40s in the 1970s, right?" he said. "So, you know better. You weren't in the Civil War."

One of Gutfeld's co-hosts, former George W. Bush press secretary Dana Perino, said that if she were still in public relations, she wouldn't take Sterling's case.

"I don't think he deserves defense," she said. "And so, he'll just be out there on his own in his cesspool of greed and avarice."

Legendary sportscaster Warner Wolf, appearing on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto," said other National Basketball Association owners will force Sterling to sell.

"Owners have to uphold a standard, too, just like the players," Wolf said. "This guy has gone over the line. He's done. He's out."
