President Donald Trump on Tuesday took to Twitter to tear into retiring Sen. Bob Corker again, saying the Tennessee Republican "couldn't get elected dog catcher" in his home state.
Not to be outdone, Corker fired back:
The tweets are the latest salvos between the first-term president and Corker, 65, the two-term senator and former Chattanooga mayor, who announced he won't seek a third term in 2018.
Trump's tweets came after Corker's appearances on two network morning shows criticizing the president on foreign policy.
"The president undermines our secretary of state, raises tensions in the area by virtue of the tweets that he sends out, and I would just like him to leave it to the professionals for a while and see if we can do something that's constructive for our country, the region and the world," Corker said on ABC's "Good Morning America."
As for tax cuts, Corker has said he would oppose any plan that adds just a penny to the deficit, or "there is no way in hell I’m voting for it."
