Trump Tells Ryan Tweet Was Not Aimed at Him

By    |   Sunday, 26 March 2017 04:44 PM EDT

President Donald Trump told House Speaker Paul Ryan on Sunday that a tweet he sent a day before suggesting the public watch a Fox News show that called on Ryan to resign had nothing to do with him, according to NBC reporter Kelly O’Donnell.

On Saturday Trump posted a tweet encouraging the public to watch "Justice with Judge Jeanine."

The show began by Pirro stating that "Paul Ryan needs to step down as Speaker of the House," because “he failed to deliver the votes on his health care bill,” adding that "I want to be clear, this is not on President Trump. No one expected a businessman to completely understand the nuances, the complicated ins and outs of Washington and its legislative process. How would he know which individuals upon which he would be able to rely?"

Efforts to clear up what Trump meant by promoting a show that clearly criticized Ryan while exonerating the president for any responsibility for the bill’s failure despite his repeated promises to immediately repeal and replace Obamacare was unclear.
