As states begin reopening to allow people to go back to work, two out of three Americans say they would be uncomfortable returning to work now, according to a new survey.
A Qualtrics poll released Friday indicates a majority of Americans surveyed are not comfortable returning to work.
Poll results indicate:
- 66% of Americans said they do not feel comfortable going back to their workplace.
- 63% said they want assurance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that it's safe to return to work before doing so.
- 25% said they think they'll return to work in May.
- 48% said they don't expect to go back to work until August.
The poll found workers in the Midwest are more comfortable going back to work right now compared to the rest of the country. Of those surveyed, 28% of Midwesterners say they are comfortable returning to their workplace.
Republicans are two times more likely than Democrats to say they're comfortable returning, according to the poll. But only one in three Republicans surveyed said they would be ready to return to work now.
The poll surveyed 2,003 adults from April 27-28. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
