El Paso, Texas’ GOP Mayor Dee Margo on Sunday said the massacre in his city has hit hard and “I don’t think it’s going to get any easier until after we have our 20 funerals.”
In remarks on “Fox News Sunday,” Margo said “Nobody prepares for this… Thank heavens our law enforcement was prepared.”
“It has been stated they received a call at 10:39 a.m. [Saturday] and [the shooter] was apprehended at 11:06 a.m., so it’s a masterful work for their training. But it's tough when I don't think it's going to get any easier until after we have our 20 funerals.”
He said there was only one way to characterize the shootings: “Pure evil as far as I can characterize it.”
“We are the largest U.S. city on the Mexican border,” he said, adding, El Paso is 84% Hispanic to begin with and we have shoppers that come over every day from Mexico to purchase goods and services here. … We are totally unique for North America.”
