Frank Siller, the CEO and chairman of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, is remembering late conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who raised $5 million to benefit his organization, as a "great patriot" and the "greatest person for a conservative movement."

"We lost a legend, an icon," Siller said on Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "My heart bleeds for [his wife] Kathryn because they were a great team, and she lost the love of her life and he touched so many Americans in so many different ways that we all can relate to."

Limbaugh, he added, "got down to the grassroots of people and where we really understood what he was saying. He did it in the simplest of terms in a very complicated world. He is going to be sorely missed."

Through his radio show, Limbaugh raised $5 million for Tunnel to Towers, which provides mortgage-free homes for severely injured military members and first responders, through the sales of shirts defending Betsy Ross. The idea came after former NFL player Colin Kaepernick criticized a Nike shoe featuring the Betsy Ross flag.

"He was so enthusiastic about this campaign," said Siller. "He and Kathryn called us. They said, you know, 'Frank, we want to raise this money because we are building mortgage-free homes for catastrophically injured service members and gold star families and fallen first responder families who died in the line of duty.' And that's what he was all about, taking care of the greatest of all Americans."

Limbaugh's backing, Siller added, "changed our foundation. He brought to life so much of what we were doing for so many Americans."
