Franklin Graham: Hurricanes Didn't Come From 'Angry' God

(Fox News' "Morning Joe")

By    |   Tuesday, 12 September 2017 11:47 AM EDT

There are many people who believe that maybe God has hit them with storms like Hurricanes Harvey and Irma because He is angry with them, Evangelist Franklin Graham said Tuesday, but that's not the case.

"We have chaplains pray for the families because so many families feel that maybe God is mad at them because of this storm," said Graham, the CEO of Samaritan's Purse, an evangelical Christian humanitarian aid organization, during an interview on Fox News' "Fox and Friends."

"I want them to know that God is not mad, that God loves and cares for us and sent his son Jesus Christ to die for our sins," said Graham. "We want people to know that God is not angry."

The organization, which has gone into overdrive because of the two storms, has an "army of chaplains" visiting shelters and homes, and "they are out there where the people are weepy when they see their house underwater," said Graham.

Irma, he said, was devastating for Florida, but not as much as had been expected, and he's thanking God "for answered prayers."

Samaritan's Purse has workers in five locations in south Texas, has opened locations in Fort Myers and Naples, Florida, and has been flying missions into the Caribbean Islands of St. Martin, Antigua, and Barbuda, which were all hit hard by Irma, said Graham.

Graham said the plane that has been taken to the islands has been filled with supplies, which are consumed immediately as soon as it lands.

Donations are being accepted through the Samaritan's Purse website, Graham said.
