Forty-five percent of Americans are satisfied with the position of the United States in the world β a 13-year high and a 13-percentage-point increase from a year ago, a new poll showed.
The Gallup survey released Wednesday also showed no change from last year in Americans' opinions of how other world leaders view President Donald Trump, with 29 percent saying he's respected around the globe, the same percentage that thought so in 2017.
The satisfaction with America's place in the world dipped from 36 percent in 2016 to 32 percent in 2017 β then surged to 45 percent this year, the highest it's been since 2005, the pollster found.
The poll also found 54 percent of Americans believed the world rated the United States favorably in 2016, but the percentage with that view fell to a near-record low of 42 percent last year β bouncing back to 55 percent this year.
