Gas Prices Climb for 27 Straight Days in Los Angeles

The average price of a gallon of self-serve gasoline in Los Angeles has risen for 27 consecutive days, and 47 out of the past 48, to more than $3.81, a 46.5 cent jump in a month and a half, the City News Service of Southern California reported Monday.

The price is the highest gasoline has been in Los Angeles since Dec. 3, 2019.

The cost jumped a half cent Monday after a 1.8-cent spike Sunday. A gallon is 6.5 cents more than it was a week ago, 29.3 cents more than a month ago, and 29.7 more than a year ago, CNS said.

Orange County, to the immediate south east of Los Angeles, was seeing similar increases. The cost of a gallon of gas climbed for a 28^th consecutive day and 61 out of the past 62 to just over $3.80.

No reason was suggested for the long-term upward trend. The prices are about a nickel more than the national average, according to AAA.

Prices across the nation are nearly 40 cents higher than a year go.
