Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., is planning to lead a protest against the National Rifle Association's annual convention being held in his home district, The Hill reports.
The convention opened Thursday in downtown Atlanta, featuring 10-acres of firearms and shooting and hunting gear, according to The Atlantic Journal-Constitution. It is expected to draw 80,000 people, the newspaper reported.
President Donald Trump will address the convention on Friday, according to the paper.
Meanwhile, Lewis and hundreds of gun control supporters will rally on Saturday against the gathering.
Lewis is joining with Everytown for Gun Safety, an organization of gun control activists, the Hill reported.
"Today's gun lobby agenda includes several dangerous policies, including dismantling our background check system and making silencers more accessible," Everytown said in a release.
Lewis led a sit-in on the House Floor last June to protest congressional inaction on gun control, The Hill noted.
