Former U.S. Representative Michael Grimm was sentenced to eight months in prison on Friday in Brooklyn federal court, seven months after he pleaded guilty to felony tax evasion and subsequently resigned from Congress.

Grimm, a Republican who represented the New York City borough of Staten Island, admitted in December that he underreported employee wages at a health food restaurant, Healthalicious, which he co-owned before embarking on his political career. (
