Harvard Medical School students and doctors are urging Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to cancel a big fundraiser at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, the Boston Globe reports.
The group sent an e-mail Sunday to the cancer institute's president, Dr. Laurie Glimcher, saying Trump's immigration ban threatens the med school's ability to provide patient care, education and research, the Globe reported.
According to the Globe, two medical researchers from a Boston-area hospital couldn't enter the United States after the executive order was signed last Friday.
"Given the events of recent days, we are asking Dana-Farber to take some moral leadership on this," organizer George Karandinos told the Globe.
The group also started a petition drive after Glimcher didn't reply to its email plea, the Globe reported.
The cancer center fundraiser is set for Feb. 18.
The Cleveland Clinic is also under fire for going ahead with plans for a fundraiser at the Trump resort while one of its doctors has been banned from entering the United States under the immigration order, Stat News reported.
