Washington state Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee on Sunday brushed off President Donald Trump’s “snake” insult, saying he was more focused on a bipartisan effort to deal with the coronavirus outbreak in the United States.
In an interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Inslee, who’s state has been the U.S. epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, was questioned about the Trump blast, which was delivered during the president’s visit to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week.
“I really don’t really care too much what Donald Trump thinks of me,” he said. “And we just kind of ignore that. It’s just background noise.”
He said the work both parties do together that will make a difference on COVID-19.
“We really need to work together, Republicans and Democrats,” he said.
“It’s a national crisis,” he said, adding: “We’re focusing on people’s health and not political gamesmanship and that’s what were’ going to do.”
