T.J. Maxx and Marshall's last week told its employees to stop promoting Ivanka Trump's products and throw away the in-store signs endorsing her product, The New York Times reported.
"Effective immediately, please remove all Ivanka Trump merchandise from features and mix into the runs," read a note sent to employees last Wednesday, which the Times obtained. "All Ivanka Trump signs should be discarded."
The news comes on the same day President Donald Trump criticized Nordstrom for dropping his daughter's products on its website because of poor sales.
Neiman Marcus also stopped carrying Ivanka Trump's products, citing sales performance.
Doreen Thompson, a spokeswoman for the TJC Companies, which owns Marshall's and T.J. Maxx, said the message had been sent from company headquarters.
"The communication was intended to instruct stores to mix this line of merchandise into our racks," she wrote in an email to the Times. "We offer a rapidly changing selection of merchandise for our customers, and brands are featured based on a number of factors."
