Brooke Baldwin, a former CNN anchor who was recently replaced by Jake Tapper, CNN's chief Washington correspondent, shed light on the fact that there is a profound lack of women in key roles at the liberal network, reported Fox News.

She went on to say that there is a marked lack of executive opportunities for women as well as a lack of reported stories about women at the liberal network.

"The most influential anchors on our network, the highest-paid, are men. My bosses, my executives, are men. The person who oversees CNN Dayside is a man, and my executive producer for 10 years is a man. So I’ve been surrounded by a lot of men," Baldwin said on the Ms. Magazine podcast, reports Fox News.

However, she said, "little by little," CNN has at least placed some women in lower positions of authority as digital and newsgathering executives, for example. "It’s getting better, but we still have a bit of a ways to go," she said. "I want more women in the room."

Despite being labeled a straight-news anchor by CNN, Baldwin proudly models herself after such outspoken feminist such as: Gloria Steinem, Stacey Abrams, Ava DuVernay and Megan Rapinoe.

Out of all the major cable news networks, CNN is the only one without a female primetime host.

Even the reporting at CNN is male centric.  Women’s stories at CNN are few and far between. "I know I, personally, fight for women’s stories," Baldwin said, and as continuing inspiration to strive to empower women, a reminder hangs in her office- a poster from her CNN series ‘American Women.’

TheWrap, a Hollywood trade publication looked at weekday network programming in 2018 and determined that CNN did not have as many female anchors as its competitors, stated Fox News. "CNN has significantly fewer women serving in visible on-air roles than either Fox News or MSNBC," TheWrap reported.
