Gallup: Lottery-winning Americans Would Rather Work Than Quit

A majority of Americans say they would continue to work even if they won a $10 million lottery jackpot.

Gallup's Work and Education survey found two-thirds of American workers would stay at their jobs, while only 31 percent said they would quit.

In earlier Gallup polls, conducted prior to the 2008-2009 recession, only 39 percent to 44 percent of Americans who said they would stop working after winning.

Gallup also found by a roughly 2-to-1 ratio that most American workers who said they’d continue working would also want to remain in the same job rather than seek a new one.

According to the poll, workers aged 55 and older are much more likely than young workers to say they would quit if they won.
