President Donald Trump privately ranks those who appear on air at Fox News based on their loyalty to him on a scale of 1 to 10, according to a report in The New Yorker that takes a look at what many consider the cozy and symbiotic relationship that exists between him and the cable news outlet.
Trump has told confidants he has given Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier a 6 for his loyalty while Sean Hannity gets a perfect 10 and "Fox & Friends" co-host Steve Doocy an off-the-scale high score of 12.
"Trump gets up and watches 'Fox & Friends' and thinks these are his friends," Charlie Black, a longtime Republican lobbyist in Washington whose former firm advised Trump in the 1980s and 1990s, told The New Yorker. "He thinks anything on Fox is friendly. But the problem is he gets unvetted ideas."
Baeir is among the most reputable news anchors of Fox News, a network that still insists on drawing a fine line between news and opinion programming, according to Mediaite. Indeed, other Fox News anchors such as Shepard Smith and Chris Wallace also sometimes ask tough questions of the Trump administration.
However, Mediaite said the line at Fox between news and opinion is increasingly becoming more blurry, giving as an example Ed Henry, the former White House reporter who now hosts the very opinionated "Fox & Friends Weekend," but was still in Hanoi reporting on the summit with North Korea.
