Despite President Donald Trump's warnings about the dangers of mail-in voting amid the global coronavirus pandemic, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is keeping the faith it will not be abused in his state.

"No, I'm not concerned about mail-in voting in Florida," Rubio told reporters on a conference call, according to CNN.

Republicans have long been hawks on voter identification, but Rubio breaks from the GOP and the president on questioning the legitimacy of who would be filing mail-in ballots and whether they will be counted.

Trump has sounded warnings that widespread mail-in voting has the potential to be "rigged."

"This is going to be the greatest election disaster in history," Trump told reporters Friday.  "And by the way you guys like to talk about Russia and China and other places, they'll be able to forge ballots, they'll forge up, they'll do whatever they have to do."

Trump has even trolled on Twitter a question about whether the U.S. should delay the election – as some states did during primaries this spring – until in-person voting can be safe and secure. Trump later clarified: "Do I want to see a date change? No. But I don't want to see a crooked election" after being asked about his tweet:

"With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???"

"I wish he hadn't said that, but it's not going to change: We are going to have an election in November and people should have confidence in it," Rubio told reporters.
