Actor Matthew McConaughey criticized Hollywood's "far-left" and said conservatives are in election "denial."
"There are a lot [of people] on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize, and are arrogant toward that other 50%," the Oscar winner said during a podcast interview last week with British comedian Russell Brand.
"Many people, I'm sure you saw it, in our industry, when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that it was real," McConaughey said. "Some of them were in absolute denial."
But now "you've got the right that's in denial, because their side has fake news. And I understand, they've been fed fake news. No one knows what the hell to believe, right? So they're putting down their last bastion of defense."
The best solution is to find common ground, McConaughey said.
"It's a move to say 'no, let's get aggressively centric,'" he said. "I dare you. It's not a recession. It's an aggressive move."
