Former New York City mayor and multi-billionaire Michael Bloomberg loves life so much that he hopes to be around for another half century, which would make him 125 years old, Business Insider reported.

"I look forward to another, I dunno, 50 years may be optimistic, but that's my objective, to live another 50 years. Nobody's done that I might point out so far," said the 75-year-old media mogul and investment wizard at Bloomberg's new European headquarters in London.

Bloomberg, worth about $47.5 billion, added that he would spend those years making more money and spending more of his fortune on philanthropic work.

"I'll do everything I can to help our government and work on my foundation," he said. "It's a good chance to work in the commercial world and the philanthropic world and to spend time with my new grandchildren and daughter."

He founded Bloomberg Philanthropies to promote charitable causes and has pledged to give away half of his wealth upon his death. Bloomberg is the latest wealthy man to pursue efforts to extend life. Larry Ellison, CEO of the Oracle Corp., Paul F. Glenn, a venture capitalist and investor, and Peter Thiel, the cofounder of PayPal, are all bankrolling similar plans, according to The Daily Beast.

Bloomberg also told the Business Insider that he was seriously considering running for president, but realized he could not win as an independent.

But, he added, "it would have been fun."
