The NFL, perhaps predictably, has decided not to allow sideline or pregame reporters to take the field this season to avoid possible coronavirus infections, according to Yahoo.
The league has classified cheerleaders, anthem singers, mascots, military/police, honor guards and national radio as nonessential.
The NFL-NFLPA protocols have added preventing mascots and cheerleaders from taking the field, multiple sources have reported.
The updated protocols also prohibit reporters and pregame television panel shows from getting sideline, which may move sideline reports to the stands.
The NFL has allowed individual teams to create their own stadium protocols, such as how many fans to allow in the stands, which is based on local health guidelines. Some teams have announced they plan to play without fans in the stadium.
The league still expects to begin its season on time.
