Tour Might Even Lure Gilligan Back Out to Open Seas

Now here’s something Gilligan, the captain, the Howells, Ginger, Mary Ann, and the perfesser could really sink their teeth into — and it would be more than a three-hour tour that strands them on a deserted island.

At the very least, you’ve got to appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit of the folks at Hawaii Tours for developing the “Find President Obama’s Birth Certificate” tour package. The adventure, which takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to the furor over President Barack Obama’s birth certificate and the fact that Hawaii purportedly is his birthplace, includes island-hopping, a visit to the Pearl Harbor Memorial, checking out active volcanoes, and a 120-mile journey around the island of Oahu.

Of course, no Hawaiian tour would be complete without a traditional luau at Paradise Cove.

Along the way, the tourists are involved in a search-and-rescue team looking for the president’s birth records.

The package “was conceived to bring a lighthearted, adventurous aspect to touring the Hawaiian Islands,” says George Kaka of Hawaii Tours. “We believe in weaving relevant and recent history into our tours, when possible.”

So, with apologies to Gilligan and his shipmates of the '60s sitcom fame, who were, after all, rescued eventually:

“Just sit right back and take a tour,
“To find a lost birth certificate,
“That starts from a Hawaiian spot,
“To find the missing slip.”
