Planned Parenthood's public relations firm, Camino Public Relations, says in a background document that harvesting organs of aborted babies is a "humanitarian undertaking,"
The Weekly Standard reports.
Elizabeth Toledo, the president of Camino Public Relations, says that the process isn't as gruesome as most suggest, but rather a process that can help save lives.
"It’s not like someone comes and says like 'I’d like to buy an arm,' or something like that. It really doesn’t work that way," Toledo told the Weekly Standard.
According to the PR firm's "backgrounder" document, it states that "Aborted pregnancy tissue donation and research are humanitarian undertakings that hold the potential to cure disease, save lives, and ameliorate suffering."
The document also states that a secret video, made by David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress, shows "inaccurate" and "inflammatory" claims regarding Planned Parenthood's fetal tissue donation and reproductive healthcare.
The Weekly Standard notes that the undercover video displays Planned Parenthood's senior director for medical services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, bragging about the technique in which they abort babies to enable them to later sell their body parts and organs for profit.
"We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part," Nucatola tells actors posing as organ traffickers. "I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact."
The "Backgrounder" claims that "the promotional video mischaracterizing Planned Parenthood’s mission and services is made by a longtime anti-abortion activist that has used deceptive and unethical video editing."
Camino states that rather than selling the body parts and organs for profit,
Planned Parenthood will "donate" human remains to for-profit and non-profit entities.
