Poll: Only 26% Think US Is on Right Track

By    |   Friday, 22 April 2011 12:05 PM EDT

Americans have plenty of issues to be upset about, from high gas prices, to the gargantuan budget deficit, to dismal employment prospects. So it’s no surprise that a New York Times/CBS News Poll shows that only 26 percent of Americans think the country is headed in the right direction, as Politico reports.

That’s the lowest reading since February 2009, just weeks after President Barack Obama entered office, when only 23 percent saw things going in the right direction.

In the latest poll, a whopping 70 percent of respondents said the country’s on the wrong track.

As for the economy, 80 percent of Americans say it’s faring poorly, while only 19 percent think it’s doing well.
