President Donald Trump is less trusted than the courts and the media in the eyes of the public, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released Wednesday.
When asked if they trusted Trump to do what's right "almost all of the time," "most of the time," "some of the time," or "hardly ever," voters responded:
- 38 percent said almost all or most of the time.
- 61 percent said sometimes or hardly ever.
When asked the same question, but about the U.S. court system:
- 58 percent said almost all or most of the time.
- 40 percent said sometimes or hardly ever.
When asked what they thought of the media's trustworthiness:
- 52 percent trust the media over Trump on important issues;
- 37 percent trust Trump over the media.
A recent Fox News Poll found most Americans trust the Trump administration over the reporters who cover his government, 45 percent to 42 percent.
Quinnipiac also found Trump's approval ratings dropped compared to a poll released earlier this month.
- 36 percent approve of Trump, while 55 percent disapprove.
- Previously, 42 percent approved while 51 disapproved.
"President Donald Trump's popularity is sinking like a rock," commented Tim Malloy, Quinnipiac University Poll assistant director.
"He gets slammed on honesty, empathy, level headedness, and the ability to unite. And two of his strong points, leadership, and intelligence, are sinking to new lows," he added. "This is a terrible survey one month in."
