Zogby: Voters Open to Military Option With N. Korea

U.S. Voters are open to a pre-emptive military strike in North Korea but strongly oppose sending thousands of American troops to Syria to topple the Bashar al-Assad regime, a new poll finds.

Fifty-two percent of voters agree that the U.S. must deal with North Korea’s nuclear weapons threat, according to a poll conducted by Zogby Analytics. Tensions continue to mount between the U.S. and North Korea as North leader Kim Jong Un continues to test-fire ballistic missile tests despite warnings from President Donald Trump and the United Nations.

Trump and his administration have refused to rule out the use of military force against North Korea.

Forty-one percent of voters polled by Zogby said they strongly disagree with military action against Syria, where last month Assad allegedly carried out a chemical weapons attack that killed dozens of civilians. Trump, in response, launched five dozen Tomahawk missiles at the Syrian air base from which the gas attack is believed to have been organized.

The Zogby poll was conducted from April 28-29 among 876 likely U.S. voters.
